The FORDY 2HP 1.5kW Vortex Air Pump, also known as a Side Channel Blower or Ring Blower, is designed to provide stable, oil-free airflow for fish farming, shrimp farming, biofloc systems and other aquaculture applications. With a maximum airflow of 250 m³/h, maximum positive pressure of 32 kPa and maximum negative pressure of 26 kPa, the 1.5kW model can supply air to diffuser discs, aeration hoses, diffuser tubes and other underwater aeration equipment. Its compact structure, non-contact impeller and low-maintenance design make it suitable for long-duration operation in commercial aquaculture systems.
2HP 1.5kW Vortex Air Pump for Aquaculture
The 1.5kW FORDY Vortex Air Pump provides a combination of airflow and pressure required for many pond and tank aeration systems. Air enters through the inlet and is accelerated by the high-speed impeller through the side channel, generating continuous airflow and pressure. When connected to an underwater diffuser system, the pressurized air is distributed through the pipeline and released into the water as bubbles, helping improve water movement and oxygen distribution.
The 250 m³/h maximum airflow provides a high-volume air supply, while the 32 kPa maximum positive pressure allows the blower to overcome the resistance created by underwater diffusers and pipelines in suitable installations. The blower can also generate up to 26 kPa negative pressure, making the same Side Channel Blower platform suitable for applications requiring vacuum airflow.
Oil-Free and Low-Maintenance Side Channel Blower
The FORDY Ring Blower uses a non-contact impeller structure, with the impeller operating without direct contact with other mechanical components in the air passage. The air-moving section does not require lubrication during normal operation, providing an oil-free air supply that is suitable for aquaculture environments where clean air is important.
The non-contact design also reduces mechanical wear and helps lower routine maintenance requirements. Combined with the external bearing structure and heat-dissipation design, the Side Channel Blower is suitable for applications requiring stable airflow over extended operating periods. Proper ventilation, electrical protection and operation within the rated specifications are recommended for continuous-duty applications.
Flexible Voltage and Aquaculture Applications
The 1.5kW Vortex Air Pump is available with 220V single-phase or 380V three-phase power, with the final configuration selected according to the customer’s electrical supply. It can be connected to EPDM aeration hose, nano aeration hose, diffuser discs, diffuser tubes, air stones and other suitable air distribution equipment.
The blower is suitable for fish pond aeration, shrimp pond aeration, biofloc aquaculture, intensive aquaculture tanks and water-treatment applications. For larger farms, multiple Ring Blowers can be combined with an air distribution manifold to provide airflow to different ponds or aeration zones. The required blower capacity should be selected according to water depth, diffuser type, number of diffusers, pipeline length and required airflow.

Applications
The FORDY Vortex Air Pump, Side Channel Blower and Ring Blower can be used across different aquaculture systems, including fish ponds, shrimp ponds, biofloc tanks, hatchery systems and intensive aquaculture facilities. When combined with suitable diffusers and air pipelines, the blower provides continuous air supply for underwater aeration. It can also be integrated into larger centralized aeration systems where several ponds are supplied from a common air distribution manifold.
How to Select a Vortex Air Pump
Choosing a suitable Side Channel Blower requires more than simply comparing the maximum airflow. Water depth determines the pressure required to push air through the water, while diffuser type, diffuser quantity, pipeline diameter and pipeline length affect system resistance. For example, a blower with a higher maximum airflow is not necessarily the correct choice if the required operating pressure cannot be maintained at the diffuser.
For aquaculture projects, FORDY can recommend a suitable Vortex Air Pump / Ring Blower based on the required airflow, water depth, number and type of diffusers, pipeline configuration and available voltage.
