Features of Roots Blower:
- The impeller adopts an innovative curve trajectory, and through optimized design, the total adiabatic efficiency and volumetric efficiency are further improved, resulting in exceptional airflow and pressure performance.
- The air intake and exhaust lines of the housing adopt a spiral cutting method. Together with the rotor’s top line, they form a triangular intake and exhaust port. The sequential opening of the port through rotor rotation leads to smoother operation, reducing vibration and noise levels.
- The design prevents oil from bearings and gears from entering the housing, ensuring no oil contamination in the working chamber. As a result, clean air is delivered, preventing pollution from oil mist.
- The compact structure features special bearings and oil seals, extending service life and simplifying maintenance.
- The impeller and shaft are designed with a split press-fit structure, ensuring no collision between the impellers. This ensures that the blower performance remains stable and consistent over long-term continuous operation. While the product is mainly used for air delivery, it can also transport special gases such as gas, flammable, explosive, or toxic gases by altering the sealing design. If you require this feature, please specify during ordering.
Performance Range:
- Airflow: 0.44 to 56.97 m³/min
- Pressure boost: 9.8 to 58.8 kPa
Working Principle:
The Roots blower is a positive displacement blower where the delivered airflow is proportional to the number of revolutions. The three-lobe impeller design allows for three suction and discharge cycles per revolution by two impellers. Compared to the two-lobe design, this reduces gas pulsation, lowers load variation, increases mechanical strength, and reduces noise and vibration.
The two impellers are mounted on parallel shafts and maintain small gaps between the impellers and the elliptical inner surface of the housing. As the impellers rotate in opposite directions at a uniform speed, a fixed volume of gas is transported from the intake side to the discharge side.
For older Roots blowers, whether two-lobe or three-lobe, the compression principle is that, at the moment when the rotor tip opens towards the exhaust port, the high-pressure air from the exhaust side flows back into the casing, causing compression. This backflow and compression result in drastic pressure changes, which are the main cause of the blower’s noise. Our blower is designed with a spiral shape to eliminate this issue. The diagram below illustrates the key points of the spiral shape in our blower.
