This floating pump, also known as a water fountain pump, is a portable irrigation and drainage machine powered by a motor in the air chamber. It floats on the water’s surface and moves with the waves. The effect of forming a fountain is very beautiful.

The FUTI Floating Pump is designed for water pumping in fish ponds, aquaculture farms, reservoirs and other open-water applications. Its floating design keeps the water inlet at an optimal position below the water surface, avoiding the problems commonly caused by sediment, mud and excessive suction lift.

The pump can be installed directly in the water without a conventional pump station. Simply connect the floating body, place the pump on the water surface and switch on the power. An optional oxygenation nozzle can also be used to convert the pump into a simple floating aeration system for fish ponds.

Key Features

Easy Installation & Portable Design

The floating pump does not require a fixed pump station or complicated installation. Secure the floating body to the pump, place it on the water surface, connect the pipeline and switch on the power.

Its lightweight floating structure makes the pump easy to install, relocate and operate in different water bodies.

The floating design also allows the pump to follow changes in water level, making it suitable for ponds and reservoirs where the water level varies.

Floating Water Intake for Better Pumping

Unlike conventional pumps that draw water from the bottom of a pond or river, the floating pump keeps its water inlet approximately 25–50 cm below the water surface.

This helps maintain a stable water intake position while reducing the risk of drawing in mud and sediment from the bottom.

Because the pump does not need to overcome a conventional suction lift, the water pipeline can be shorter and the installation can be simpler.

Energy-Efficient Water Intake

The floating structure changes the traditional suction-lift arrangement into a pressure-lift configuration.

With the water inlet maintained near the water surface, the system can reduce pipeline length and eliminate the need for a conventional bottom valve in suitable installations.

Depending on the installation conditions and pumping system, this design can help reduce energy consumption by approximately 10–30% compared with conventional arrangements.

Actual energy savings depend on pipeline length, head, flow rate, installation conditions and the performance of the complete pumping system.

Longer Shaft-Seal Service Life

The pump shaft seal is positioned away from the pond bottom, helping protect it from sediment and mud.

Because the floating pump does not rely on a bottom-mounted water intake, the shaft seal is less exposed to sediment accumulation and does not need to operate under the same conditions as a deeply submerged pump.

This can help extend the service life of the shaft-sealing system and reduce maintenance requirements.

Optional Aeration Function

The floating pump can also be configured with an oxygenation nozzle instead of the standard pump outlet arrangement.

The nozzle sprays and agitates the water surface, increasing contact between water and air. This can help improve dissolved oxygen levels and water circulation in fish ponds.

The optional aeration configuration makes the floating pump suitable for applications requiring both water pumping and pond aeration.

* Oxygen transfer capacity applies when the pump is configured with the oxygenation nozzle. Actual oxygen transfer performance depends on water temperature, water quality, installation depth and operating conditions.

Standard Configuration

The floating pump is supplied with components selected for aquaculture and outdoor water applications.

  • Copper-wire motor
  • Engineering-plastic floating body
  • Plastic pump casing
  • Floating structure
  • Spray / oxygenation nozzle
  • Elbow pipe
  • Black round power cable
  • 3-inch outlet for applicable models
  • 4-inch outlet for NFBD2.2-4-60
  • Carton packaging

For three-phase models, the standard 13 m cable is supplied without a plug.

Applications

The FUTI Floating Pump can be used for:

  • Fish ponds
  • Shrimp ponds
  • Aquaculture farms
  • Reservoirs
  • Agricultural irrigation
  • Pond water circulation
  • Water transfer
  • Fish pond aeration
  • Aquaculture water management

Why Choose a Floating Pump?

Compared with a conventional fixed or submerged pumping system, a floating pump offers a simpler installation concept by keeping the intake near the water surface.

Floating intake → Less sediment exposure → Simpler installation → Easier relocation

For aquaculture applications, the same floating platform can also be equipped with an oxygenation nozzle, allowing one machine to support both water pumping and aeration.

Technical Note

The actual flow rate and head of a pump depend on the complete hydraulic system, including pipeline length, pipe diameter, elevation difference, fittings and other flow resistance.

The listed Max. Flow and Max. Head are reference performance values and should not be interpreted as being achieved simultaneously.

For a specific pond or water-transfer project, FUTI can recommend the appropriate model based on required flow rate, head, pipeline diameter, water level and power supply
